I’m going to be analyzing the “good dog machine” which is an imitation of the Rube Goldberg Machine. So first they are going to light a string in fire which is going to produces conduction and chemical energy. The car in the video is going to roll down the red inclined plane that it is sitting on, producing mechanical energy and knock down the row of dominos that is lying in front of it. The dominos will go into the cup hanging by a string and create gravitational energy, causing the cup to move down like an elevator going downward. As, the cup goes down, it lifts another plane with a ball sitting on it and causes it to roll forward. The ball will fall into a 90 degree angle white pipe that will lead the ball to the lever and have the dog treat that was sitting at the end of the lever fly up into the dogs mouth. This is a great example of cause and effect. You can clearly see how each step causes an effect. So, the string that is lit on fire causes the car to crash into dominos. When the dominos fall that causes the cup to gravitate toward the ground. Once the cup hits the ground the ball begins to roll of due to the string being pulled from under. The ball rolling causes the ball to roll into the pipe. The pipe causes the ball to fall on the lever which causes the treat to fly into the air. I think these machines and experiments are really useful if you aren’t capable of doing all these things at once then the cause and effect side of the experiments really helps out with that. I’ve never heard of this machine or experiment but I think it is a really unique and interesting way to compare this to an argumentive essay and how using cause and effect can be effective. In an argument pulling out factual evidence of how something is causing and effect is a really strong tool because then you have proof that something is working or not working.
Distinguished Characteristics
In this blog I’m going to be defining the difference between zombies, robots, androids, and automatons. Then I’m going to compare and contrast them to each other. A zombie is a dead body and does not have a soul either, rather someone dead who just moans, groans and wants to eat human flesh. Zombies are most commonly seen in horror movies or video games. They also come from African and Caribbean religions. A robot is a machine that resembles a human, they can replicate certain human motions and functions automatically. Robots are commonly scene in science fiction movies. An android is a robot but with a human appearance. So, they can mimic human actions but at the same time also have a human figure. An automaton is similar to a robot, it is a self operating machine and looks very similar to a human. It is programmed to follow a predetermined sequence. These look the most similar to humans out of all four. Zombies compared to the other three really do not have brains because they are just a dead body walking around and are not programmed to do anything unlike the other. Although, zombies are similar to the others in the sense that their appearance is human, just a dead version. Robots is a more broad word to describe because, androids and automatons fall under the category of robots although they can be critically analyzed in a specific category. Robots are similar to androids and automatons because they can be programmed to replicate and action of a human and be designed to act as we do. Robots are different from a zombie because again a zombie is dead with no brain and has no intellectual thoughts. Androids are like in the movie Star Wars they are kind of shaped like a human in a way but, they show some degree of artificial intellegance. They mimic a human more than they look like one. An Automaton is very similar to a human in the sense of physical features. Automatons are programmed like any other robot they just act in a more humanly manner rather in a robot manner. All four of these have similarities and differences and it is very interesting to see the distinguished differences between each one.
The more drama the better
My favorite type of genre in movies, TV shows, or videos to watch is drama. Like my title states the more drama the better. I usually watch TV shows only because they or so convenient these days and less time consuming then movies. Ill explain two TV shows that I watch that are all dramas and explain how men in that show are “not real” in there own sense. In Greys Anatomy which is a medical drama I binge watch ever Thursdays there is a character name Jackson Avery. He plays a world renown Plastic Surgeon and is trying to carry on the legacy of his father who was one of the best known surgeons in the world. In my opinion Dr, Avery is not “real”. A few times they have referred to him as Dr. Dreamy. His talents in the show and how he handles every situation he is in with such positivity and care shows me that he is not a replication of a “real” doctor. Usually doctors don’t handle situations calmly, usually all over the place and not as caring as they appear on the drama TV series. Avery is also a genuine soul and a real gentlemen, always looking out for others. I find this quality in doctor Avery also superficial and “not real” because in society today it is hard to find genuine people who actually care about you and your best interest. So in my opinion doctor Avery is “not real” in the event he does not exemplify what a real life doctors traits are. Another TV drama I watch is called Manifest which is about a group of people who get stuck on a flight which to them only seemed like a few hours but in reality they were stuck on that flight for 5 years. A character in the TV shows name is Ben Stone. He comes off the flight and has super powers and now is saving people and doing things he never thought he could do. The different characteristics he shows are “not real” the way he can hear things in his head, as if he was abducted by aliens and now has some sort of alien telepathy. I also like to watch this drama because I can compare Ben and doctor Avery to each other by comparing and contrasting them to each other. Ben is a lot like Avery in the sense of being genuine and trying to save people. He does everything in his power to save his family from losing their house, in the TV series. So in a way I could categorize these two men under the gentlemen category due to the fact they both show similar characteristics. Dramas are the best genre to watch because there is always something to look forward to in the next episode because they are so dramatic. Its like I always say, “this episode is getting so juicy”. I can argue on about why dramas are the best genre to watch but, I will just leave it at this, the more drama the better.
Meet my bestfriend
Me and my bestfriend Amy have been friends for about two years. I didn’t know that I could meet anyone so similar but so different from me. Her and I are so similar within our personalities and our styles. But, our up bringing was very different. She was born in Reno, Nevada. She has a relatively small family. She has two older sisters and one older brother, she is the youngest out of 4. Her up bringing was very rough, she didn’t have a father figure in the picture. So, it was rough with just having her mother for an up bringing. Amy has 2 nephews and 1 new born niece. She traveled a lot as a young kid and was always out of Reno. She also loved riding horses when she was little. She lived on a farm in Reno that had around 2 horses that she always loved playing with. Also, she liked riding bicycles and swimming. She competed in young swim competitions. Her favorite stroke was backstroke. As a child Amy was very extrovert, energetic, and as her mother, Laura, recalls, “always full of joy with an ecstatic and bubbly personality.”
On the other hand I first lived in Las Vegas before moving here to Reno. I have a really big family and I am very family oriented, which is different from Amy. I have two older brothers and I am the youngest of my family which is a similarity Amy and I have. I thankfully have both of my parents in my life which is another difference from lives. I have one younger niece who is 2 years and her and Amys nephews play together all the time. My parents loved to travel the world when my brothers and I were younger so i have a very well rounded upbringing. When I was younger I was super athletic, I was a dancer, a cheerleader, and a swimmer. If there were three words to describe me that my parents would use they would be ” Energetic, Outgoing, and Kind.” Amy and I are as I said in my introduction, very similar but also very different. Our upbringings had there differences but at the same time they were similar. I never in a million years would’ve thought that I could find such an amazing person like Amy. She is my person who is always there for me and gets me like no one has ever understood me before. I call her my sister rather than a friend. We are from two different blood lines but act like we are from the same. Don’t know what I would do without her.
Sacrafice is a virtue
In the image below my first thought was sympathy. I feel very sad when I see this photograph of a women and her baby on the streets asking for help. In the picture the women looks as if she is calling out for help. I also feel a sense of sacrifice. This women looks like she isn’t eating but, with what she has, she can provide the bare minimum food for her baby. This picture also makes me feel angry like, why are they on streets? Why hasn’t someone helped them? The women is wearing a hate with a blanket under it and a scared and helpless emotion on her face. The baby is bundled in layers of clothes with a beanie on and a bottle in his both. The lady is holding the baby like it is the last thing and only thing she has. These are just the physical features that come along with looking at this picture. But, I think so much more is said within in the picture than it could’ve been said in words. I feel like this picture kind of stands up for the homeless community and brings to reality what is happening everyday around the world.
I think the photographer that captured this photo goes about this in a pathos type of way. He wants you to feel the pain in this photo. When analyzing this photo I think of who this photo was directed towards. I believe that this was taken to place awareness to the world that the homeless community does have some people and families who do really need help. In this situation I can be empathetic because I did have a close family friend who was living on the streets and now I gear my energy towards helping people and family through feeding the homeless the first Saturday of every month. So, this photo defiantly raises awareness for moms and baby’s who are living on the streets and crying for help. Analyzing this picture, was an eye opener for myself because it shows that homeless people do have kids and that the government should help the helpless and needy. People that have children should not be on the streets and they should be priority over a person who is alone and does not have to take care of someone else. This picture shows that people live different lives and not everyone has it easy. So sacrifice is a virtue is what the moral of this picture.

Fast Food is Healthier
Healthy food isn’t as healthy as it is advertised to most people. Are you seriously willing to eat something green? Last time I checked if something is green that means its either rotten or moldy. With new technology developing we need something quick to eat and snack on. Nobody in todays society can take time out of their “busy” day to wait around and cook something healthy. Why take hours to prepare a meal when you can get something fast, yummy, and hot by going through a fast food drive through? That’s like buying a new car and waiting until the model goes out of style. The faster you can get high amounts of calories the happier and more energized you will be. To put it into perspective if you were to eat an equal amount of calories you would have to eat 34 cups of celery just to equal a Big Mac from McDonalds . Do you personally have the time in a day to be eating all that when you could get the same amount of calories in just one sandwich? Even those who consume twice as much in “junk food” calories are still spending far less money than healthy eaters.
Many children look forward to going to fast food places, so they can get there exercise for the day. McDonalds has a play area providing the children with the only exercise they get all day. After getting a balanced meal the kids have some place to run around and play to let all the energy they have out. To shape up, changing their lifestyle as a whole and being able to eat the yummy food while playing. Changing your healthy diet to fast food is the way to go, it can increase your calorie intake and is way more convenient than any other food. Everybody thinks going to Subway over McDonalds is better and healthier when in reality it would take you an hour to walk off a Subway’s 6-inch Double Cold Cut Sub, Veggie Delight Salad with Fat-Free Italian Dressing, and Large Iced Tea. Depending on your age and general health and weight, walking could be bad for your health and your body. You may start to feel discomfort throughout your body which may cause you too have problems with circulation in your lower extremities. So, you might as well just eat the faster and more convenient meal because, we wouldn’t want to have circulation problems in our lower extremities.
Fast food is a convenience to everyone as it is food you do not have to prepare. You can save millions of dollars by going to fast food and you can also save time. Doctors don’t know what there talking about when they tell the world it can cause heart disease and it can lead to obesity. Doctors who specialize in health fields tend to over exaggerate because, everyone knows doctors have no time to cook a meal so half the time they are eating fast food themselves. In other words, it is time that we as a Nation change our diets over to the fast food community.
The house I never knew
A place that was foreign to me but at the same time was so familiar. To strangers it looked maybe “abandoned” or “creepy”. The house on the corner of Maple Hill Dr. A narrow dark street with faded street lines and cracks across the road. Not a single street light and not a single sound. Tumble weeds and fall leaves ruffling across the unfinished pavement. A dirt pathway with dead rose bushes leading up to the house. A rusted black gate, stands before the house. The house looks as if it was right out of the movie “IT”. As I walk up to the house I hear snapping under my feet from the tree branches. I hold my cold hand out and push the screeching gate open. The porch has a brown rustic rocking chair with the book “The Night” laying on it and a bottle of pink bubbles sitting besides the chair. I open the door and feel a cold breeze pass through me as if someone blew passed me. The house is a familiar smell. The smell of wood and old cardboard boxes. Inside, the house is dark and has the sense of absence within it. Everything in the house looked so familiar, the wood floor, the glass table, the carpets, and everything else in the house as if I had seen it before. I turn right down the wide and dark hallway to find an office. The office has two full size mirrors, an old wooden desk, and a TV that must have weighed 200 pounds. I walk outside of the office to meet at the front door again. Walking on the cold hollow wood I head down a narrow hallway and turn left into a small half bathroom. The walls are egg shell color and there is a Picasso painting on the wall. There is a picture frame with what looks like a grandpa and a granddaughter sitting on a porch in a brown rustic rocking chair blowing bubbles. As I walk out of the bathroom I feel the cold breeze again pass by me. Continuing down the dark hallway, off to the right into a small room with the Arabic alphabet hung on the walls along side of the English alphabet. Many books on the shelf as if I was in a library and lots of pencils and pens everywhere. This room looked familiar but I couldn’t pin point exactly where I’ve seen it before. Then, I walk across the master bed room. As soon as I entered the room the temperature dropped. The wood floors were freezing. I walk into the bedroom where I see a bed with no sheets. There is nothing in the bare and cold room but, only a picture on the wall. Its of a handsome young man with grey eyes and brown hair parted to the right, he was wearing a uniform representing that he was in the army. I looked closely at the plaque on the bottom on the frame that had a name on it. His name was Joseph Michael. At this very moment, everything was played back in my head and the dream that I was having came together. This was my grandpas house 6 years later and I was standing in the very room he passed away in.
Two different worlds
To give you a little insight on where I learned my second language I will explain to you a little about my family first. When I was little I was always at my grandparents house and they are from Lebanon. My grandparents moved from Lebanon when they were very young, but they still carried over the traditions from there country. We as a family make big Lebanese dinners every Sunday as a family tradition, brought over from Lebanon. . So, as a little kid I began to pick up on what they were saying in Arabic. When i got a little older, my grandpa use to speak to me in Arabic all the time. To help me better understand I would memorize the dialect he would use when he talked. Although I do not speak it fluently I can still have small conversations with family. Now, in my household we speak two different languages. My moms side of the family speaks Arabic and my dads speaks English. We primarily speak English as a family but ,I do often speak to my ami-امي (mom) or gdeti- جدتي (grandma) in Arabic. If I’m writing a letter formally in English I will use phrases like “Dear, whoever this may concern” and “Sincerely, Carson Nolan”. If I’m talking to a friend or texting a friend I will often use “slang”. Usually, ill text a friend and say “Hey, wyd?” which is short for what are you doing. I also might say ” Alright gtg bye”, which is short for got to go. But, when I talk to my mom and grandma in Arabic I usually will always say “ahabk” أحبك which means I love you. I also might say “namel an ykon ldik um gayed”أمل ان يكون لديك يوم جيد, which means I hope you have a good day. I never use Arabic when I write for a few reasons. One reason being it is a very hard language to learn to write and also because people from the Arabic decent only write when they are formally trying to communicate with someone.
I have heard many people say Arabic is a nasty language and when speaking it we always sound mad. Azizi ia kan hzaa alkolk-عزيزي أيا كان هذا قد يتعلق ( Dear whoever this may concern), I respect your opinion but to defend a language I speak I think it is a gmilh-جميله (beautiful) language. Ive also heard many of my friends say that it is “terrorist” talk. Talking to my friends who have made this comment, traga، kent albelhaa – تراجع ، كنت البلهاء(back off you idiots). Ana ahab allghah alti atklm ( I love the language I speak). The only reason I still continue to practice Arabic is for my grandpa. Anh lm yiad mana ، و# lkenamel an tegal menh fkhor ( he is no longer with us, but I hope to make him proud). Alarbeh hi lghah gmilh ( Arabic is a beautiful language), and I hope to see more generations learn it throughout my lifetime.

The book that forever changed me
I remember it like it was yesterday, the only book that I would pick up as a 12 year-old. Before revealing what book changed my outlook on reading forever, I must admit I would always just look up a summary online of the books we were suppose to be reading. History is a class that intrigues me, but in reading our teacher always assigned fiction books which bored me because, I could never relate it back to history. The book that forever changed me is called “The Night” by Elie Wiessel. This is about Elie and his dads experience in a Nazi German concentration camp. This book forever changed my perspective on reading. It is such an amazing, eye opening story that I think everyone should read sometime in their life. Not only does this story tell you and give you insight on real life events that happened in 1944-1945 at the peaking point of the holocaust it also makes you show great appreciation for the life we as Americans live today. Elie as the narrator goes into depth about how he and other Jewish descents were treated. He was a survivor of one of the most brutal times in history. He went through so much and was treated like an animal before being rescued. I respect him not only as an author but, as a survivor and thank him for sharing his amazing story with us readers. If you have yet to read it, I highly recommend it. It may change your views on reading, as it did mine. Now, I take joy in reading books about almost anything. I use to dread reading books but due to the imagery and real life events that took place in “The Night” I have learned to appreciate reading more and not take it for granted. I also enjoy writing a lot more as well. This shaped my writing to become more personal to me. I like to share my experiences through writing as well. A lot of the times I find myself continuously thinking about life and instead of running my mind, I just sit down and write my thoughts down. I believe writing your thoughts down can make you look at a situation in a different perspective. I still have a long way to come with reading and writing but practicing it more often I think has helped me shape and develop my skills with reading and writing.

A little bit about me
I like to travel, this last Summer I traveled to Hawaii for the first time and it was breath taking. I also love dogs. I own two little ones they are Chihuahuas. I workout all the time and I love to be fit. For fun I like to hang out with friends and ride bikes.
